[ʒuã'do], Marcel, eigentlich M. Provence [prɔ'vãs], französischer Schriftsteller, * Guéret 26. 7. 1888, ✝ Rueil-Malmaison 7. 4. 1979; schrieb autobiographisch geprägte Erzählungen und Romane mit teils realistischen, teils fantastischen, teils ironisch-kritischen Schilderungen des französischen Provinzlebens und Kleinbürgertums, in denen sich christliches Gedankengut mit mythisch-mystischen und satanistischen Elementen verbindet. Seine umfangreichen Tagebücher sind durch die schonungslose Demaskierung der eigenen Person gekennzeichnet.

(1921; deutsch Der junge Theophil); Les Pincengrain (1924; deutsch Die Pincengrains); Monsieur Godeau intime (1926; deutsch Herr Godeau); Monsieur Godeau marié (1933; deutsch Herr Godeau heiratet); Chroniques maritales (1938; deutsch Das anmutige Ungeheuer).
 
Erzählungen: Chaminadour, 3 Bände (1934-41).
 
Autobiographisches: Essai sur moi-même (1947); Mémorial, 7 Bände (1948-72); Journaliers, 28 Bände (1961-82); Journal sous l'Occupation (herausgegeben 1980).
